2/09/10 > Locust Grove annihilates Wagoner, 95-45

LOCUST GROVE - Locust Grove devastated the visiting Wagoner Bulldogs Tuesday at Pirate Arena. The Pirates ravaged Wagoner 95-45. The Lady Pirates also recorded their second win in as many days. Locust Grove beat the Lady Bulldogs 50-38 in a physical match up.

In the late game, the Pirates couldn't miss with 12 players racking up points. Pud Ross led all scorers with 20 points. The game started off rough with Adrian Houser getting two fouls in the first two minutes. Later a three point shot by Chase Knott followed by two three's by Trey Conner put the Pirates up 23-9. 2/03/10 > Pirates win hardwood Battle of 82

LOCUST GROVE - Locust Grove made it look easy as the teams swept Salina in the hardwood version of the Battle of Highway 82. The Lady Pirates dominated Salina 67-49 and the Pirates beat the Wildcats 66-48.

Locust Grove's Taylor Loffer led the Lady Pirates to a win over Class 3A number 18 Salina. Loffer led all scorers with 15 points. » Read more . . .

1/26/10 > Pirate payback; LG beats Fort Gibson for title - Lady Pirates finish 3rd

FORT GIBSON - The Locust Grove Pirates got a little bit of payback Saturday, as they upset the No. 5 Fort Gibson Tigers, 62-53 in the final of the Old Fort Classic.

After a 12-11 first quarter in favor of Fort Gibson, the Pirates took the lead, 27-20 by the halftime intermission.

1/16/10 > LG gets homecoming sweep of Miami

LOCUST GROVE - Two wins on homecoming night equals a clean sweep for Locust Grove's basketball teams. The boys defeated Miami 74-45 in the early game while the Lady Pirates beat the Lady Wardogs 49-36.

Pud Ross, CJ Stafford, Adrian Houser and Trey Conner led the Pirate offense, all scoring in double digits. Locust Grove jumped out to a big lead scoring 25 first quarter points with the help of two three point shots by Conner. At the end of the first quarter, the Pirates were up 25-14. 1/14/10 > LG Finishes Season Sweep of Jay

JAY - Great teams respond after adversity.

The Locust Grove Pirates did that Tuesday as they bounced back from their first loss of the season to beat Jay, 80-64.

"It's great to come back and get the win," said Head Coach Ronnie Maple after his team's win over the Bulldogs. Maple was pleased with his team's ability to shake off their first loss, and get the lopsided win.

"We put the game away early," Maple said of his team, who led 25-11 after the first quarter and 22-point lead at the half, 47-25. »Read More . . .

12/18/09 > LG Girls Beat Jay

LOCUST GROVE - Locust Grove swept the visiting Jay Bulldogs basketball teams Tuesday in Pirate Arena. The Lady Pirates kicked off the night with a 47-44 win.

It was Balie Neel's seven-point second quarter that kept the Lady Pirates close. Despite Neel's efforts, the Lady Bulldogs maintained control of the game sending Locust Grove to the locker room down by 30-24 at half time.

After the break, Courtney Freeman, Erica King and Boren all hit from three point range to boost the Lady Pirates past Jay, 39-35. Locust Grove held on in the fourth quarter and walked away with the 47-44 win. >> Read More . . .

12/18/09 > LG Boys now 5-0

LOCUST GROVE - In the late game, Pud Ross led the Pirates with 12 first quarter points to give his team an 18-13 lead. Ross didn't score in the second quarter but his teammates took up the slack. CJ Stafford scored seven to keep the Pirates in the lead. By the end of the half, Jay had narrowed Locust Grove's lead to three, 25-22.

After the intermission, the Pirates took control outscoring the Bulldogs 13-8. A three by Trey Conner and baskets by Ross, Adrian Houser and Stafford boosted Locust Grove to a 38-30 lead at the end of the third quarter. >> Read More . . .

12/10/09 > LG boys stay undefeated

SALINA - A 32-point performance by Locust Grove's C.J. Stafford led the Pirates to a 55-22 win over Salina Tuesday night in Salina.

In the late game, Locust Grove took a one-point lead in the first quarter. Stafford had five of the Pirates nine points in the first quarter. He was on fire in the second quarter hitting four three pointers. His aerial assault left the Wildcats down 32-12 at the end of the half. >>> Read More  . . .

LOCUST GROVE - Locust Grove dominated the Kansas Comets Saturday night in front of a home crowd at the Pirate Arena. The Pirates beat Kansas 56-35. Just four minutes into the game Kansas was able to tie the score at 6-6. That was the last time the Comets would be anywhere close to Locust Grove. 12/08/09 > Dawson’s 3-pointer lifts LG to win over Pryor

PRYOR - Locust Grove's Darrien Dawson picked a good time to make his only field goal of the game Friday against Pryor.

With 30 seconds left and the game tied, Dawson got a wide open look from the corner and let it fly. "He can take that shot any time he's got it," said Locust Grove Head Coach Ronnie Maple.

"He's good enough to be a starter, but I love the spark he gives us off the bench." The shot got nothing but net, and gave Locust Grove a 67-64 lead over Pryor.

12/04/09 > Houser’s 21 lifts LG over Bulldogs

The Locust Grove Pirates got a good road win to start the season, 63-58 over the Bulldogs.

The game was tight in the first as Locust Grove led 14-11 after one quarter and 36-33 at the half.

The Pirates extended their lead to 48-39 going into the fourth quarter, holding the Bulldogs to only six points in the third frame.

Wagoner was not able to rebound from the deficit.

Adrian Houser led Locust Grove with 21 points. Pud Ross and Trey Conner had 10 apiece. Jordan Lewis had 26 for the Bulldogs to lead all scorers.

LOCUST GROVE - The Locust Grove Lady Pirates suffered a narrow loss Wednesday, as the Grove Lady Ridgerunners came to town, winning 5-3.
